Water Conservation and Adaptation
Water conservation refers to actions that reduce water use. Water conservation can result in more water available for human needs and uses, as well as more water available in streams and other water bodies for environmental needs.
Water conservation is crticial and of ever-growing importance for Jackson County with ongoing challenges meeting agricultural water needs and instream needs, as well as residential wells running dry. As Jackson County's population grows and climate continues to change, water conservation will be of ever-growing importance to utilize our water resources as effectively as we can and ensure water availability for human and environmental needs.
Changing water resource availability will also require adapting our water resource infrastructure and systems to address the new conditions. Some of this adaptation can occur in changes to conserve water; other adaptation can include new ways of capturing and storing precipitation as patterns of rain and snowfall change.
